Why do you do business with people?
In some cases, it may all be about price. But if you continue to do business again and again with a company, and you are investing in a lot of different products and/or services, my guess is price is rarely a factor. Instead, its usually about the relationship you’ve developed with the salesperson or owner. You like working with them. You appreciate the fact that they remember what you ordered and how you are using it. You value their recommendations because they apply directly to you.
When you’re developing those relationships before you do business, you can usually tell if you “connect” with a person within the first few moments of speaking with them. You like the fact they are punctual in showing up for your meeting. You like the way they are dressed. You like how honest they are. You like their mannerisms.
And while that’s easy to pick up on in a face to face meeting, its a little more difficult online. How do you trust someone just from their website? That’s where the About Us page comes in. And unfortunately many people don’t put up an About Us page because they don’t know what to say, or don’t want to come across as bragging.
